Here we go again … Every Single Day for Sharon the Light!

So it’s that time again … The Cassandra Project is back with Every Single Day Part 2: Electric Boogaloo, starting June 1st!

And I am in it once again, looking for donations for an organization called Sharon the Light and posting something every single day during the month of June.

So, the details of this …

1.  Sharon the Light

Okay, so I was sitting around thinking about what organization I wanted to fundraise for this time, and it suddenly occurred to me that I actually know someone who started a non-profit!

Erin Rausch and I have been friends since college, and she is one of the most amazing people I know.  She is goofy and fun and hilarious; she has a menagerie (seriously, she has cats, dogs, at least one rabbit, and she just bought a horse. I am 100% positive I am missing some species in this list).  She’s also intelligent and very specific; she’s the person I call when I need information about economics or politics and how it affects me.

She lost her mom to cancer in 2013.  You can read the story at the link, about how Sharon the Light decorates houses for Christmas for cancer patients and their families.  It’s exactly the kind of quirky, sweet, specific thing Erin does.

And, you know, my dad has had two bouts of cancer.  He’s doing great, but Erin was one of my rocks during that very scary time.

2.  Dropping Slow

I’m revising and posting ~700ish words per day, every day, in June of this novella I’ve been working on for the past two years, in between my other projects.  It’s my palace intrigue sci-fi romance, except it’s not really that much palace intrigue.  It’s a poly romance, it’s about sisters, it’s about navigating change and pain and fear and duty, and I am completely petrified, y’all.

Everyone who donates will get an ebook copy of the entire novella once it’s completely posted.  I’m not entirely sure how that will work (emailing a file?  emailing a download link?), but between me and my trusty IT guy, Scott, we’ll figure it out by July so everyone will get their book.

The daily updates will be here on the blog, and they’ll cross-post as a link on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.

I’ll tell you guys this: I honestly wrote the sort of book I like to read.  I hope other people like it, too.

3.  Crowdrise and Their $10 Minimum Donation Requirement

The thing is, my organization’s not on FirstGiving, but it is on Crowdrise.

That said, if you want to donate directly on the Sharon the Light website, they take ANY DONATION AMOUNT YOU WANT TO GIVE.  (Well, okay, it looks like the minimum is $1, but hey.)

If you donate directly and want the ebook, please just let me know you did it, and then we can work out the details so you’ll get the book.  You can contact me via Tumblr (pick a method! any method!), via comments on my WordPress blog, DM me on Twitter, whatever.

Okay, and that’s all.  Well, except for being super excited.  (Erin has told me approximately 493487958672948672 times how excited she is about this.  She’s always shoving me the hell out of my comfort zone, so.  Here we go again. :D)  Watch this space starting June 1st!
